This Sunday at Boston University's Agannis Arena over 2,000 rowers from around the world will compete on stationary rowing machines for bragging rights and World titles, and athletes from Greater Lawrence Rowing will be among them. It may just be the craziest event in all of sports, but rowers do tend to take competition to the extreme. In fact, the competition is so intense that race organizers have a team of volunteers, (the Puke Patrol, or the Barf Battalion as they are sometimes called), on hand with buckets, mops, and sawdust ready to make
sure that a little regurgitation will not get in the way of a new world record.
Ready to hurl if necessary for Greater Lawrence Rowing are Tom Demers, Veronica D'Ambra, Hannah Osborne, Alex Zigmont, Anna Clark, Dimitri Roumeliotis
and Zach Goodman of Andover, and Gregory Gaines of Boxford. Good luck to all!
