William Kennedy Community Park
William Kennedy Park, located along the Spicket River at the intersection of Holly Street and Daisy Street, right next to Central Catholic, is named for Air Force Captain J. William Kennedy. J. William Kennedy went Missing in Action in 1971 after being shot down over Vietnam. Kennedy's remains were recovered in 1996, and he was buried in Arlington National Cemetary. William Kennedy Park is one of Lawrence's newest parks; built in place of several houses in order to control flooding. The park contains a large playground, and a beautiful softball field. It is truly a great place to take the kids.
