New Automated Trash Collection will begin on November 10, 2009
What is automated collection?
On collection day, residents place the specially designed carts to the curbside for collection. E.L. Harvey will empty the cart using trucks equipped with an automated arm that will empty the cart into the truck and return the cart to its original position, without the operator leaving the cab. This collection method is much safer than traditional manual collection. With automated collection, each household will be provided with a TRASH TOTER, a 65-gallon cart with wheels.

Automated collection is rapidly gaining throughout North America. E.L. Harvey is confident that residents will be very satisfied with our automated waste collection system. The improvements in service, environmental benefits, and a safer work environment for our employees will ensure that we will provide the safest and best service possible.

Additional Carts - One cart per household will be provided by the city free of charge for each household. The collection and disposal costs of the trash placed in them will also be free-of-charge for the first cart.
For each additional cart there is a one time charge for the service of the cart by the trash company and is not the property of the resident. As well as an annual fee for collection and disposal of the additional trash placed into these carts for collection.
Please note that the initial “free-of-charge” cart is the property of the City of Lawrence. Residents moving away from the city are required to notify the Department of Public Works...
Replacement Carts - One cart per household will be provided by the city free of charge for each household. The collection and disposal costs of the trash placed in them will also be free-of-charge for the first cart.
If your cart is broken, please contact E.L. Harvey Customer Service at 1 (800) 321-3002 to arrange an exchange for a replacement cart.
If your cart is stolen, and needs to be replaced, it will be mandatory to complete a stolen cart Police Report before a new cart can be issued...
