Friday, December 16, 2011
Mayor William Lantigua presented Julia Polanco, President of Food for the World, today with food donations received as a result of the City of Lawrence’s annual food drive.
“This year many folks stepped up to the plate to help those in need and I thank all for their generosity over the past month”, stated Mayor William Lantigua.
The City of Lawrence partnered with Food for the World this year encouraging people to donate food items during the holiday season. Mayor Lantigua kicked off the annual food drive in November and concluded it today with a special presentation to the team at Food for the World.
Mayor Lantigua gave special recognition to the Lawrence Public Schools, Patriot Ambulance and JSB Industries for their generous donations. “Many people have contributed to our efforts, but I am forever grateful to Patriot Ambulance and Muffin Town for their warm and caring hearts during this season of giving”, stated Mayor Lantigua. “The Anderson Family at Muffin Town have joined our Lawrence Community in a big way over the past year and they continue to give back to those less fortunate and it goes a long way with my fellow Lawrencians”, further stated a passionate Mayor Lantigua in his remarks.
“I am grateful to all those that donated and I’m happy to partner with the City of Lawrence during this holiday season,” stated Julia Polanco of Food for the World. “On Tuesday we received a special delivery from Muffin Town and I was overwhelmed with their kindness”, further stated Julia Polanco.
The City of Lawrence encourages all to get involved with local organizations that are providing so many services to our fellow residents.
