McDermott Park is located on Bailey Street, near the intersection of Bailey Street and Parker Street, directly behind the South Branch Library. McDermott Park is dedicated to the memory of John A. McDermott, Company B., 88th Infantry Battalion, 3rd Platoon, who was wounded in the Battle of Okinawa during World War II on June 2nd, 1945, and killed in action July 29th, 1945. McDermott Park provides an excellent playground for the little ones, with several benches for parents.
