Storefront of the Month Program

The “Yard of the Month”/”Storefront of the Month” award to eliminate litter is off to a great start. The award recognizes people who make the extra effort to keep Lawrence beautiful. This award will inspire others to eradicate trash, pick-up litter and to improve the quality of life in the City of Lawrence.

Nominations and suggestions for Yard of the Month and Storefront of the Month are accepted via email to FOConnor@CityofLawrence.com or submitted to the Community Development Department located at 225 Essex St. Lawrence, MA 01841 c/o Frank O’Connor.

Storefront of the Month

August 2014 - EvolSHOEn and Osiris Unlimited

The Office of Mayor Daniel Rivera is pleased to announce that the most recent winners of the prestigious “Storefront of the Month” award are EvolSHOEn and Osiris Unlimited that share the commercial space at 473 Essex Street. “The efforts of Ms. Rocio Dominguez and Mr. Osiris Dominguez have been an inspiration to the residents of Lawrence to keep the city clean and show great pride in their businesses,” said Mayor Rivera. “I applaud their continuous efforts to make Lawrence better.”

Rocio and Osiris Dominguez are a sister and brother that have made a constant effort to keep the sidewalk at their Essex Street business clear of snow, trash, and litter. "It costs nothing, but a little effort to keep the sidewalk clean and safe for others to make our city a better place to do business." said Ms. Rocio Dominguez. It is this hard work and much pride in the stores upkeep that has earned both EvoluSHOEn and Osiris Unlimited the coveted recognition of the Storefront of the Month award.

February 2014 - My Little Peru and Ely’s Creations

The Office of Mayor Daniel Rivera is pleased to announce that the most recent winners of the prestigious “Storefront of the Month” award are My Little Peru and Ely’s Creations that share the commercial space at 191 Essex Street. “The efforts of Ms. Sonia Terbullino have been an inspiration to the residents of Lawrence to keep the city clean and show great pride in their business,” said Mayor Rivera. “I applaud her continuous efforts to make Lawrence better.”

Ms. Sonia Terbullino and her business partner, Jonathan Vega, have made superlative efforts to keep the sidewalk at their Essex Street business clear of snow, trash, and litter. "It costs nothing, but a little effort to keep the sidewalk clean and safe for others makes our city a better place." said Ms. Sonia Terbullino. It is this hard work and much pride in its upkeep that has earned both My Little Peru and Ely’s Creations the coveted recognition of the Storefront of the Month award.

February 2013 - Rodolpho’s Pizzeria

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for February 2013 is Rodolpho’s Pizzeria 121 South Broadway, near the corner of Salem St.

The owners, Leo Borges and Hezio Nascimento, and their staff, have made great efforts to keep the sidewalk clean of snow and ice on one of the busiest streets in Lawrence. Every day, the team at Rodolpho’s Pizzeria clears any snow, as well as trash from the gutter and sidewalks at their business.

"A clean storefront is great for business," said Mr. Leo Borges. For their persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, and the hard work of everyone at Rodolpho’s Pizzeria to keep the sidewalks of the area safe has earned them this coveted recognition for February 2013.

September 2012 - Pollo Tipico Restaurant

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for September 2012 is Pollo Tipico Restaurant at 190 Lawrence Street, corner of Lexington St.

The owner, Mr. Gary De Los Santos, and his staff, have made great efforts to keep the sidewalks clean of trash and litter on both streets. Everyday, the team at Pollo Tipico Restaurant clears any trash from the gutter and sidewalks on both sides of the building.

June 2012 - acqueline's Mini Market

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for June 2012 is Jacqueline's Mini Market at 334 Lowell St., corner of Oxford St.

The owner, Ms. Juana Fajardo, and her staff, have made great efforts to keep the sidewalks clean of trash and litter on both streets. Everyday, the team at Jacqueline's Mini Market clears any trash from the gutter and sidewalks on both sides of the building.

July 2011 - Three Dogz Diner

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for July 2011 is the world famous Three Dogz Diner at 13 So. Broadway on the South Canal near the Great Stone Dam.

The owners, Sheila and George Bonfiglio, and their staff have made great efforts to keep the sidewalks clean of litter and trash near one of the busiest and most heavily traveled streets in the city. Everyday, the Bonfiglios clear any trash from the gutter and sidewalks in front of the store. They have also made considerable investments to accommodate outdoor dining.

April 2011 - Family Dentistry office of Dr. Kim

Febuary 2011 - Ñera Market 2

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for February 2011 is Ñera Market 2, located at 89 Newbury Street, located at the corner of Haverhill Street.

The store manager, Mr. Nelson Lopez and building owner, Mr. Euclides Nuñez, have made great efforts to keep the sidewalks and fire hydrant clean of snow and safe from all neighbors and patrons that visit the store. Every storm this winter, the team at Ñera Market 2 clears any snow and trash from the sidewalk in front of their store.

"A clean storefront is great for business," said Mr. Nelson Lopez. For his persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, the staff's hard work and attention to detail has earned Ñera Market 2 this coveted recognition for February 2011.

January 2011 -  City Mart

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for January 2011 is City Mart, located at 576 Haverhill Street between Community & Milton streets.

Mr. Nazir Shaikh and his son, Nabin, have made great efforts to keep the area and sidewalk clean and safe for all neighbors and patrons that visit. Haverhill is a major conduit for traffic in and out of the city to I-93 and a major route for children going to the Bruce School. As a result, there is substantially more litter in the area than other parts of the city. Nevertheless, everyday, the Shaikh family at City Mart clears any snow and trash from the sidewalk in front of their store.

"A clean storefront is great for business," said Mr. Nazir Shaikh. For his persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, the staff's hard work and attention to detail has earned City Mart this coveted recognition for January 2011.

November 2010 - Farrah Funeral Home

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for November 2010 is Farrah Funeral Home at 133 Lawrence Street near the Spicket River.

Mr. Louis Farrah and his staff have made great efforts to keep the area and sidewalk clean and safe for all neighbors and patrons that visit. Where Lawrence Street crosses the Spicket River, it is a pinch point for pedestrians and cars. As a result, there is substantially more litter in the area than other parts of the city. Nevertheless, everyday, with the help of his staff, Mr. Farrah clears the trash and snow from the sidewalk, keeping the area clean, safe and beautiful.

"A clean storefront is great for business," said Mr. Louis Farrah, II. For his persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, the staff's hard work and attention to detail has earned Farrah Funeral Home this coveted recognition for November 2010.

October 2010 - Humberto's Barber Shop

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for October 2010 is Humberto's Barber Shop at 87 Saratoga Street at the corner of Lawrence Street.

TMr. Humberto Corniel has made great efforts to keep the area and sidewalk clean and safe for all neighbors and patrons that visit. With the recent excavation and street repairs, there was substantially more litter in the area. Nevertheless, everyday, with the help of his staff, Mr. Corniel clears the trash from the sidewalk.

"A clean storefront is great for business," said Mr. Humberto Corniel. For his persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, the staff's hard work and attention to detail has earned Humberto's Barber Shop this coveted recognition.

December 2010 - Heav'nly Donuts

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for December 2010 is Heav'nly Donuts at 262 Essex Street between Appleton and Lawrence streets.

The entire staff at Heav'nly Donuts has made great efforts to keep the area and sidewalk clean and safe for all neighbors and patrons that visit. Everyday, the staff clears the snow and ice as well as pick-up the trash to keep the sidewalk safe and free of all litter. Heav’nly Donuts had wonderful seasonal paintings in the window that make it a great place to take the family.

September 2010 - The Loft Restaurant

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for September 2010 is The Loft Restaurant at 337 Essex Street between Amesbury & Lawrence streets.

Owners Oscar Esquiñones and Lisa Marie with the entire staff at their restaurant have made great efforts to keep the entire block on Essex Street between Lawrence & Amesbury streets clean and safe for all neighbors and clients that visit.Everyday, the staff sweeps the sidewalk and gutter, picking-up the trash to keep their block on Essex Street free of all litter.

May 2010 - Greater Lawrence Family Health Center

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for May 2010 is the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center at 34 Haverhill Street on the banks of the Spicket River.

Supervisor Junior Martinez and Director Hal Shea with the facilities staff at all of the Gr. Lawrence Family Health Centers have made great efforts to keep the clinics, parking lots and sidewalks clean and safe for all patients and clients that visit. However, the site at 34 Haverhill Street is a great example of a good corporate neighbor that does extra to keep the city looking good. Each day the facilities team at 34 Haverhill Street pick-up the trash to keep the area free of all trash.

"A clean storefront lets our visitors to know the quality of care here at the clinic," said Mr. Junior Martinez. For their persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, the facilities team's hard work and attention to detail has earned Gr. Lawrence Family Health Center this coveted recognition.

April 2010 - 1 Stop Market 1

The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce the winner of the prestigious Storefront of the Month award in Lawrence for April 2010 is 1 Stop Market at 136 Essex Street and the corner of Mill Street.

Owners Pankaj and Subhadra Patel with the staff at 1 Stop Market have made great efforts to keep the storefront, parking lot and sidewalks clean and safe for all neighbors and clients. With increased traffic volume on Essex Street, late night patrons from area clubs and recent construction near their store, it had resulted in more litter thrown in front of the shop. However, each day the staff at 1 Stop Market pick-up the trash to keep the area free of beer bottles, cigarette butts, lottery tickets and other trash.

"A clean storefront is great for business," said Mr. Pankaj Patel. For their persistent effort to keep Lawrence clean, the Patels' hard work and attention to detail has earned 1 Stop Market this coveted recognition.
