Van Doorne Park

Van Doorne Park is located at the intersection of School Street, Floral Street, and Oregon Ave. It is named in honor of the Van Doorne cousins, Victor and Maurice. Victor was a technical Sargeant for the Army Air Force. He died in a plane collision in the South Pacific and was awarded athe Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He served as a gunner on raids against the Japanese. Private Maurice Vandoorne was killed in action in France.
