The Office of Mayor William Lantigua is pleased to announce that the winner of the prestigious “Yard of the Month” award for December 2011 is Ms. Milagro Peña of 77 Summer Street at the corner of Newbury Street, across from the Reviviendo Playground. Mayor Lantigua said, “The efforts of Ms. Milagro Peña and her family been an inspiration to the residents of Lawrence to keep the city clean and show great pride in their property.”

With the accumulation of snow, the snow removal efforts of the Stewarts have made their part of Dorchester Street safer for children to walk to school and for others to pass through the neighborhood. After each snowfall, the Stewart family painstakingly removes all the snow and ice from their sidewalk and yard. It is this hard work and much pride in its upkeep that has earned the Stewart Family the coveted recognition of Yard of the Month award for December 2010.

She has even paid a professional to remove sneakers that were thrown over the telephone wires in front of her home. With the recent construction and resurfacing of Lawrence Street near her home, the efforts of Ms. Frias have made her part of Bunkerhill Street much cleaner in the neighborhood. Every day, Ms. Frias painstakingly removes all the trash from the area of her sidewalk and yard. It is this hard work and much pride in its upkeep that has earned Ms. Noris Frias the coveted recognition of Yard of the Month award for November 2010.
