Planning
Our Mission
The Planning/Permitting Group provides support to the various land use boards and commissions, while also assisting citizens and other members of the Community to understand land use regulations. The group is also involved in a number of small planning projects that address open space, historic preservation and development goals.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Planning/Permitting Group is to support the various activities of the City's land use permitting bodies, including:
- Conservation Commission
- Historical Commission
- Lawrence Redevelopment Authority
- Planning Board
- Prospect Hill Historic District Commission
- Zoning Board of Appeals
Activities / Projects
Additionally, the Office of Planning is involved in the following activities and projects:
- Grant Writing
- Zoning Ordinance
- Land Use Plans
- Technical Review
Zoning Map & Ordinance Book
The Office of Planning also sells copies of the current zoning map and zoning ordinance book. The current prices are as follows:
- Ordinance book: $20
- Zoning map: $5
The Office of Planning accepts cashier's checks and money orders for the purchase of these items, no cash will be accepted.
