[ARCHIVED] Routine Traffiic Stop Results in Arrest Drugs Seized

LAWRENCE

Officer Alex Ovalles of the Lawrence Police Patrol Davison while on routine patrol conducted a motor vehicle in the area of Newbury and Essex Street.   The operator of the vehicle immediately opened door and exited the vehicle Officer Ovalles ordered him to return to the vehicle.  As the operator went back in the vehicle he immediately reached into his center console.  Officer Gary Yancey arrived to assist and it was determined that the vehicle’s registration was revoked.  Officers requested that a tow truck be dispatched to their location as a result of the vehicle being unrequested. The operator continued to act in a suspicious manner as he interacted with police.

During a search of the vehicle Officer Ovalles along with Detective Radames Gonzalez of the Street Narcotics Unit located narcotics in the center console that he reached into as well as elsewhere in the vehicle.  The operator  Jesus Rojas age  25 of Lawrence was arraigned in Lawrence District Court charged several motor vehicle charges and trafficking Class A over 200 grams.
