The Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit is a special unit within the Lawrence Police Department. This Unit conducts operations targeting the City's quality of life issues ranging from illegal narcotics sales, prostitution and apprehending individuals at large with outstanding warrants. The Unit recently conducted multiple narcotics operations in the Back Bay neighborhood. During those operations, the Detectives observed street level drug deals in which several arrests were made. As a result of continued investigations into those arrests, conducted with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit and Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, a Knox Street address was identified as the source of the narcotics purchased in many of these arrests.

An arrest warrant was issued for an individual who resides at that address. He was taken into custody as Detectives observed a street level drug deal. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at that Knox Street address. As a result, approximately 1040 grams of Class A Fentanyl and 100 Grams of Class B Crack Cocaine were seized.

Adrian M. Aybar, age 23, of Lawrence was charged with Drug Possession with Intent to Distribute as well Drug Trafficking of both Class A Fentanyl and Class B Crack Cocaine. He will be arraigned in Lawrence District Court.

Chief Vasque is grateful for the continued collaboration between the Lawrence Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration in combating drug activity in the City.
