Lawrence Police K-9 Officer Carlos Aguirre and his Police
K-9 Magnus took part in the “Dream Ride Police K-9 Expo and Challenge” in
Farmington CT. This two day event
provides Officers and their K-9’s 16 hours of in-service training and an
opportunity to challenge their dogs in their skills set.
During the event, Magnus was awarded the prestigious “K-9
Thor Award”. This was awarded to Magnus
due to his tenacity, as well as his ability to demonstrate amazing skills in
all categories, including obedience, building searches, evidence search, decoy
box search, vehicle apprehension, felony fleeing apprehension, agility sport
course, and back tie decoy apprehension.
The “Dream Ride Police K-9 Expo and Challenge” is a family
friendly event with something for everyone. The K-9 Challenge is a premiere
competition showcasing the extensive training of Police K-9 handlers and their
working dogs. Police K-9s and their handlers demonstrate their incredible talent,
skill, and obedience through an obedience skills test, obstacle course, suspect
apprehension, and many other events.
The “K-9 Thor Award” is named Wethersfield Police
Department, Connecticut K-9 Thor who was killed in line of duty November 22,
2016.
