Lawrence Police arrested Daniel Rivera age 33 of 33 Bartlett Street in Haverhill in connection with yesterday's robbery at Santander Bank. He has been charged with unarmed robbery. Rivera was arrested in Manchester, New Hampshire where he is being held awaiting an extradition hearing. He was taken into custody by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the US Marshall Service.
Shortly after arriving on the scene, Sgt. Amanda Burke, Sgt. Michael Colantuoni, and Detective Scott McCabe who led the investigation, were able to obtain a description of the suspect and still photos from the bank, as well as a vehicle description. This information was disseminated to the media and on the Department’s social media pages. Immediately following the posting of this information, the Department received several phone calls identifying Rivera as the individual in the photos. Once again the Citywide cameras played a critical role in the investigation.
A search warrant was executed by Detective McCabe along with Detectives Sean McLellan and Paul Aliano on both Rivera’s residence and the vehicle involved. As always, Trooper DJ Dolan and Trooper Dan O’Brien of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and US Marshalls Service were extremely resourceful in the apprehension of Rivera.
This is yet another great example of how social media, the Citywide Cameras, and the public’s help, along with local, state, and federal law enforcement working together, can bring dangerous individuals to justice. As Chief I am always grateful for this collaboration—Chief Roy Vasque
