Lawrence Police have arrested Javier Vasquez age 42 of Methuen in connection with a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle on Durso Ave. and a breaking and entering into a home on Emerald Ave. Officer Carl Farrington began an investigation into the Emerald Ave. B&E, the victims stated that an individual named “Javier” had been going door to door in the neighborhood asking residence if they needed yard work done. The victims agreed to hire him to remove leaves from the yard, and they believed he was the individual who broke into their home.
The following day the victim observed the suspect in the area, and brought it to the attention of Officer Ryan Gutherie who was working a construction detail in the area. The suspect was taken in custody by Sgt. Melix Bonia and Officer Jordany Vargas passing through a yard in the area.
Vasquez confessed to breaks during an interview with Sgt. Michael Colantuoni and Detective Pat Noonan. He was arraigned in Lawrence District Court. As always, residents are urged to be aware of individuals soliciting work door to door as these are often scams. Residents are urged to contact police if they observe suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
