[ARCHIVED] LAWRENCE MAN CHARGE IN AUTOMOTIVE WEBSITE SCAM

The Lawrence Police Detectives Division received a call from an automotive repair shop in the state of California alerting the Department of a possible scam regarding an individual from Lawrence posing as a legitimate automotive dealership. The investigation into the matter was conducted by Detective Aaron Blanco. Through his investigation, Detective Blanco determined that the scam was facilitated through a fraudulent website: Lawrencerepairablevehicles.com, as well as a fictitious Lawrence business address.

Unfortunately, the California business already wired a large amount of money into the account of a 23 year old male from Lawrence. Through the cooperation of the bank the funds were electronically transferred to, Detectives Blanco was able to establish the identity of the individual who had perpetrated the fraudulent scam, and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Anderson Jimenez, age 22, of Lawrence was arraigned in Lawrence District Court and charged with larceny over $1200 by false pretense.
