Mayor Daniel Rivera announces, beginning Saturday February 1st, a partnership with ParkMobile, the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in the United States to enable residents and visitors to easily pay for parking from their mobile devices. The ParkMobile app will be available at approximately 850 on-street spaces throughout the city. “I am excited for this new system because it will ease the minds of residents that for years have dreaded coming downtown to deal with broken parking meters that often resulted in tickets,” said Mayor Rivera. “With the ParkMobile app, residents and visitors of the city can rest assured that they no longer have to fight with an antiquated machine because now they can pay for parking at the tip of their hands.”
New stickers and signage will provide information to drivers on how to pay for parking using the app. ParkMobile is available for free for both iPhone and Android devices, and users can additionally register on parkmobile.io.
After setting up their accounts, customers can immediately begin using the system with their registered mobile devices. Users simply enter the zone number posted on nearby signage, choose the duration of time they’d like to park, and hit the “Start Parking” button to begin their sessions. The ParkMobile app gives users the ability to pay for parking on-the-go by allowing them to remotely view and update or add time to their parking sessions – right from their mobile devices.
In addition, ParkMobile and the City of Lawrence have created a resident discount program for qualifying residents. Users who quality for the discount will receive $0.15 off of their ParkMobile transaction fee, while those who do not qualify will pay the full $0.30 transaction fee. Qualification of residents will be conducted by the City of Lawrence and REEF Parking.
Instructional documents on the ParkMobile app can be found on the City of Lawrence’s parking page in both English and Spanish. “We’re excited to bring ParkMobile to Lawrence,” says Jon Ziglar, CEO of ParkMobile. “Our goal is to provide Lawrence with a smarter parking experience that allows them to easily process their transactions using the ParkMobile app.”
The city is also going out to bid for a new provider of parking services and equipment to solve the issues around the broken meters. Directions on pay by phone and how to use the ParkMobile app are attached. For questions about the pay by phone system, please call the City of Lawrence Parking Office at 978-620-3691.
