Mayor Dan Rivera with MIS Director, Luis Santiago, announce the release of Lawrence themed Zoom Backgrounds aimed to boost the ambiance of your next virtual meeting. Zoom has a virtual background feature that allows for users to upload customized backgrounds to liven up a meeting or cover your at-home background. As social media accounts, like “Room Rater,” a twitter account aimed solely on rating backgrounds used during virtual meetings, have shown the background of your Zoom does not go unnoticed and in fact says much about you. With our newly released Lawrence backgrounds you too can try your luck on increasing your “Room Rater” score and show your Lawrence pride.
“Zoom and other video conferencing applications have become a part of our everyday lives as we stay home to try and combat COVID-19, whether it is work meetings or events a lot of what would have usually taken up our days are now going virtual,” says Mayor Dan Rivera, “It can be stressful to find a background that limits people’s access to your home life but also reflects your individuality. Lawrence virtual backgrounds offer the best of both worlds. We want people to be able to take their favorite sites of Lawrence and showcase them on their next virtual gathering.”
Lawrence virtual background scenes include high-quality, high-definition photos of the historic Ayer Mill and Clock Tower, the roaring Spicket River Dam and the iconic City Hall Tower, with more to follow. The City will also be taking suggestions for future backgrounds that can be sent to VirtualBG@cityoflawrence.com
